During high school I spent a year as an exchange student in Costa Rica, instilling in me a passion for international travel and encounters with different cultures, places, and people. At Rhode Island School of Design, I discovered the potential of my creativity and the balance necessary for sanity between the demands of the profession and other activities. While working for various architecture firms and non-profits, I gained an appreciation for the social and political dynamics which impact work environments and project outcomes, reaffirming the importance of clear communication and sincere team building. A year after completing the architectural licensing exams in Pennsylvania, I married and moved to Italy. While learning a new language, working in a different culture, and completing a Masters in Sustainable Architecture, I developed new perspectives and patience.
